National Popcorn Day!

Buttered Popcorn for National Popcorn Day!

This past summer girls cooking was always playing around with new popcorn flavors… To celebrate National Popcorn Day and bring us back to all the delicious popcorn we had this summer here is a simple popcorn recipe and a few new flavors to try!

Ingredients to make 12-16 cups of popcorn -

  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 3/4 Cup Popcorn Kernels
  1. Place three corn kernels in 1/4 cup vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. When the oil is hot the three kernel will pop, remove the popped kernels.
  3. Add 3/4 cup kernels and cover the pot.
  4. Cook, shaking the pot occasionally, until the popping subsides.

Garlic and Herb Topping

Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic – grated
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary – finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sage – finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon thyme – finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  1. Melt butter in saucepan.
  2. Add garlic, rosemay, sage and thyme to saucepan and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Drizzle over popcorn and toss with 2 teaspoons of salt.
  4. Enjoy!

Everything Bagel Topping

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons white seasame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon carawy seeds
  • 1 tablespooon granulated onion
  • 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  1. Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl.
  2. Toss mixed ingredients with popcorn.
  3. Enjoy!

Sriracha-Lime Topping

Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons butter - melted
  • ¼ cup Sriracha
  • 1 ½ teaspoons grated lime zest
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  1. Whisk butter, sriracha, lime zest and lime juice together.
  2. Drizzle over popcorn and toss.
  3. Season with salt as needed.
  4. Enjoy!

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter - melted
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  1. Toss butter and popcorn.
  2. Mix cinnamon and sugar in small dish.
  3. Add cinnamon sugar mix to popcorn bowl and toss again to coat popcorn.
